Subject: Cherishing the Creative Mind of Steven Santa Cruz Booth
Dear Family and friends of Steven,
I hope this message finds his way. I am reaching out to you today to express my deep appreciation for the creative mind and spirit of our dear friend, Steven Santa Cruz Booth.
It is with a heavy heart that I learned of his passing, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the impact he had on me.
During our short time together in the English city of Sheffield, I had the privilege of witnessing Steven's exceptional creativity and unique perspective on the world. We connected on a level that allowed us to explore our shared passion for artistic expression and embrace our individual journeys of self-discovery. Although circumstances and personal development led us on separate paths, I always admired the way Steven fearlessly pursued his own vision of the world.
I wanted to share my experiences with Steven and the special moment we had together in the English city of Sheffield. We had the pleasure of meeting each other and creating a small radio vlog where, just for fun, we portrayed two extremely enthusiastic Metallica fans in the style of the "Saturday Night Live" sketch "Hans and Franz." It was an incredible experience to collaborate with Steven on this project, and I cherish the memories of our joyful and creative partnership.
It was an endeavor driven by our desire to explore the depths of our creativity and tap into the uninhibited spirit of our childhood selves. Little did we know, within those lighthearted moments of silliness, we would stumble upon some truly remarkable gems.
Through our embodiment of these exaggerated Metallica super-fans, we allowed ourselves to break free from societal expectations and dive headfirst into a world of unbridled imagination. We embraced the joy of making others laugh, even at our own expense. In that process, we discovered that true creativity often emerges from moments of unfiltered self-expression, regardless of how "foolish" we may have appeared.
It was in those spontaneous and uninhibited moments that we found ourselves reconnecting with our inner child. We recaptured the essence of curiosity, fearlessness, and the pure delight of simply having fun. The experience served as a reminder of the transformative power of embracing vulnerability, shedding inhibitions, and fearlessly embracing our true selves.
In retrospect, those seemingly silly moments held within them profound lessons. They reminded us that growth and learning often emerge from the willingness to step outside our comfort zones, to explore the uncharted territories of our creativity, and to take risks without fear of judgment.
As we navigate the journey of life, let us encourage ourselves and our loved ones, including our children, to embrace their inner child, to explore their creativity without inhibition, and to find the courage to occasionally make a complete fool of themselves. In doing so, we create an environment where beautiful and unexpected treasures can emerge from these creative processes.
May we always cherish these precious moments of rediscovering our inner child, and may they continue to inspire us to approach life with a sense of wonder, playfulness, and the freedom to be authentically ourselves.
His imaginative ideas and boundless creativity left an indelible mark on me. Steven possessed an extraordinary ability to push boundaries, challenge conventions, and infuse his work with a genuine sense of wonder. His artistic contributions were a testament to his remarkable talent and unwavering dedication to his craft.
While our paths may not have crossed again as we ventured on our own quests for personal growth, I hold a profound appreciation for the moments we shared and the impact Steven had on my own artistic journey.
His spirit continues to inspire me, and I am grateful for the time we had together.
In honoring Steven's memory, I embrace mine own unique perspectives and continue to explore and contribute to the ever-evolving world of creativity.
May we each find our own path and create meaningful work that reflects our individual visions. I really cherish his spirit and keep his creative legacy alive in mine heart.
With heartfelt condolences to his family and warm regards,
Björn Bongen. ( Dutch little friend)
Björn, Thanks a lot for sharing these memories. They make a big difference to his family, even now two years on from Steve's death. Warm wishes, David (his dad).
